Images on the internet are endless. I find it fascinating to see what images interest other people and what images they choose to represent certain things. A perfect example is ‘The Tree of Life’.
The Tree of Life is a representation of a spiritual perspective of nature, so I decided to Google images for a look at what people see as representing nature for them. I then copied these images and printed them out in miniature and then arranged them in an artificial landscape maquette to make a forest of the images.

The outcome was a lot of unnatural images of trees, charts and new age folly. Is society so far removed from nature that we have to invent unreal (and tacky) fantasy versions of it?

Looking at garbage from a new perspective

I wanted to see the results of taking something that we usually try to ignore from its usual place (in this case the gutter) and place it where people have to notice it because they actually have to step over or around it.

These photos are of general architectural materials that were subjected to the extreme heat generated from the Black Saturday fires. I have also included some landscape shots, not for the shock value, but for the transformation of the colours in nature and the interesting forms that the heat created.
